Get the Necessary Supplies

If you've decided you want to adopt a dog, you will first need to make sure that you have gathered all of the necessary supplies to groom your pup.

You will need to buy the right shampoo. There are shampoos for dogs out there, but these can sometimes dry out the goldendoodles' skin. Instead, you can use a mild baby shampoo or a 2-in-1.

If you have a raised bathtub, you can bathe them in there, but buying a shower hose can also help too.

Make sure that you have a non-slip mat on the floor of the tub so that they don't hurt themselves.

Learn How to Bathe Them

Once you have the necessary supplies, you will need to learn the correct way to bathe your pup.

First, wash their face with a wet washcloth but make sure that it doesn't have soap on it. Make your way from their head to their tail. While you're doing this, make sure that you don't get any shampoo in their eyes.

Massage the shampoo into their fur, making sure that you get every spot. When your dog is covered in shampoo, take a fine-toothed comb and run it through the dog's hair.

Next, you will need to rinse all of the shampoo out. If you leave too much shampoo in it, this could cause them to have dry skin which could lead to itching.

Brush Their Hair

Once you've finished bathing them, you will need to brush them to ensure that their hair doesn't immediately get tangled and matted.

In addition to brushing them after you bathe them, you will also need to brush at least once a week.

Your goldendoodle will need more or less brushing depending on what kind of coat the dog has. It will also depend on how much the dog has been shedding, what season it is, and what kind of activities they get themselves into.

If your dog has curly or wavy hair, you may need to brush him at least once a day to prevent the hair from getting tangled or matted.

However, if your dog has straight hair, you can probably get away with just brushing it once a week as this hair isn't as prone to tangles.
